I’m excited to be participating in Stamp ‘N Hop Blog Hop again this month, which we are focussing on showcasing the In Colours and my favourite is Magenta Madness.
If you are new or have never heard of a blog hop before it is a group of participants that create a project that may or may not have a theme and they “hop” together. The hopping means that there is a list of names of the other participants at the bottom of this post and you can click on their links and see all the wonderful projects that have been created. This is a great way to see the talent of other demonstrators that you may not have come across before, as this particular blog hop is only for Stampin’ Up Demonstrators.
Every year it is always a bittersweet moment when the new annual catalogue is released as 5 colours will retire but we get 5 new ones to play with. This year’s colours are really lovely and although the Magenta Madness is a little bit bolder than I had anticipated it is really growing on me and I’ve got a feeling it could be one of my favourites but it might be a little too early to tell just yet.
Just because a stamp set is part of a suite doesn’t mean that you have to use it with the suite. I have seen so many beautiful cards made with the Prized Peony bundle but the majority have been using the suite colours Petal Pink, Grey Granite and Basic Grey and although pink and grey would be close to one of my favourite combos I wanted to showcase this bundle using something a little different. This blog hop was the perfect opportunity to do that and use the new in colours. I’ve chosen Magenta Madness and Just Jade.
I loved this card from the Annual Catalogue on page 15, but I do not own the To a Wild Rose stamp set but thought this would be perfect for the Prized Peony set. Do you ever use the catalogue for an idea or to CASE?
I used the border die in the set to create this lovely edge to the layering piece, which is also embossed with the Dainty Diamonds folder. I heat embossed the peony bloom image in gold and watercoloured this with the Magenta Madness. The leaves were stamped in Just Jade and I simply coloured them using Wink of Stella which makes the colour bleed a little so you get softly coloured leaves.
To get this background affect the piece of Shimmery White cardstock has been sponged with a dauber using the Magenta Madness ink and the Square Vellum Doilies as a mask. I’ve then used the small accent image in the stamp set to scatter over the masked background and heat embossed this with gold along with the sentiment.
I finished off the card with some gilded gems and sprayed with the Frost White Shimmer Paint mixed with rubbing alcohol in a spritzer. It is very sparkly and I may have gone a little overboard with the shimmer spray but who doesn’t love a bit of sparkle?
Once again, thank you for visiting my blog today & that you have found inspiration to create your own project. Please click on the Next Arrow to hop along with the rest of us. Don’t forget when visiting to leave them a little love.
If you are interested in any of the products used and do not already have a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, I would be happy to help you place an order. If you would like a catalogue please let me know and I will pop one in the post for you.
