Something a little different

Ever since I’ve finally got my very own craft room and no longer trying to hide everything on the dining room table and then stuffing it into every corner of the house when visitors came over I have wanted to do these letters.

I wanted to share these letters with you even though I didn’t use Stampin’ Up! products.  I just used a lot of items I had in my stash.

I have thousands and I mean thousands of metal embellishments of all kinds so I wanted to try and use up some of them.  I naively thought this would use so many of them that I could repurpose their current storage containers.  Boy, was I wrong….

I got the letters from Dollars and Sense and then covered them in Gesso.  I then used a number of stencils that have been sitting in the back of my craft cupboard for so long and used some embossing paste.

I then went about adhering the metal embellishments with a gel medium and set aside to dry.

Once they were all stuck down, then I covered them all in Gesso again.

I have so many Lindy’s sprays that have been sitting on a shelf and not been used in years so I went about choosing different colours for different letters.  I didn’t want to have the letters all the same colours.

Once these were all dry then I rubbed Inka Gold around all the edges of each letter and a bit here and there to brighten up some areas.

Overall I’m pretty happy with the results.  When I asked Hunter which one was his favourite it was the purple E and it was also my husband’s favourite too.  Which one is yours?

Would you like to see more mixed media in the future?
