New Wonders

Creating with New Wonders

There are still a few days left to enter my sketch challenge on my Facebook page. The sketch challenge runs all month long and anyone is eligible to enter, however, I do ask that 80% of the products used are Stampin’ Up! products. You then need to take a picture and upload it to the comments of the pinned post and at the end of the month, there will be a random winner chosen for a gift. I created the following card using the monthly sketch and New Wonders

This month we are still using this sketch

Sketch used for June

I have a lot going on outside of Stampin’ Up! at the moment and have got a bit behind on preparing projects in advance. As hard as you try to get a couple of weeks ahead something always then comes along, which is ok when you are a few weeks ahead, but then puts you back to the start again. It does feel a bit impossible to get any further ahead than that, but I will slowly try and build that back up again.

Inspiration

My upline had a team meeting this week and showcased a new technique (well new to me) and I was keen to try it, plus my pigment sprinkles arrived on Thursday so I just had to have a play.

I used a piece of Glad Bake (I didn’t have wax paper but this worked just as well) and I spritzed with water and added pigment sprinkles in Granny Apple Green and Daffodil Delight. I also wanted to incorporate the new pressed petals washi tape and although the colour states Merry Merlot I feel this looks more like Rich Razzleberry so I used the re-inker of that to add a touch of that colour as there is no pigment sprinkle in that colour.

Card made using New Wonders

You could check out how I made this card by watching my Facebook Live video located here:

Instructions

  1. Please see above video for instructions on how to make the background.
  2.  The card base is the above picture is Granny Apple Green cardstock, layered with a piece of Daffodil Delight Cardstock which his 1/8 inch smaller. With the watercolour paper, I cut it lengthways and just cut it 1/8 smaller than the previous layer but as this paper is only 5 x 7 originally it gave this nice little border on the bottom.
  3. The layers of the Rich Razzleberry and Very Vanilla are 4-inch x 2 ¾ inches.
  4. I stamped the image in memento from the New Wonders stamp set and the sentiment in Rich Razzleberry.
  5. The blends used are detailed in the video.
  6. I finished this off with the pressed petal washi tape that creates the flower and added a faceted gem to the centre

Breaking comfort zones

Thank you, Kym, for inspiring me to try something out of my comfort zone and come up with this card. I had a lot of fun playing with the pigment sprinkles and I think I will make a few more backgrounds and create cards when I get a few more hours to sit and play.

Hope you enjoyed the card as much as I enjoyed making it and it inspires you to get creative with this set or another set you may own that is similar.
