Christmas is coming
It feels so surreal actually completing Christmas cards in September but Christmas is coming and coming very quickly. Have you noticed some shops even have decorations out already?
I usually ignore everything Christmas until after my birthday which is 17 October but because I have donated all my old stash of cards I don’t have a backup supply of Christmas cards this year. If I don’t start now I am not sure I will have enough made to send to all my friends and family. Do you still send Christmas cards? This seems to be a dying trend with postage costs and social media there are not many people that still send cards these days.
I really wanted to give sponging another go but it was so hot the day I was trying to make this card that I just kept leaving oily fingerprints on my background piece. I have since watched a few more videos and everyone seems to hold the background piece with a scrap piece of card which would probably stop the fingerprints so I will try that when I get another chance to have a play.
To ensure that I had a card that I was happy with for my Facebook Live I simply turned back to the watercolour background which gave the same effect that I was after and I was really happy with how it turned out. You can see how I made the cards on this video.
Heat embossing like St Nick
Heat emboss the stars and the sentiment in silver, but on the watercolour paper, the result is not as shiny as it is usually is and it actually looks more like the Delicata Inks have been used.
I looked through my entire stash and could not find any glimmer paper so I made my own sparkly tree using the fine tip glue and then dipped the tree in the dazzling diamonds. This is a really fine glitter which is the look that I was after.
Hope you enjoyed the cards and I have inspired you to give water colouring backgrounds ago.
