With all the focus on Sale-a-bration I wanted to use something from the new Occasions book but didn’t want to focus on any of the free items. In fact, I have used a retired item, which is usually a big NO-NO, but can you believe I could not find ANY glimmer paper in my stash? I couldn’t believe it either, so this is why I have used the recently retired glimmer paper from the Christmas Occasions book, that co-ordinated with the Joyous Noel Suite. But you if you are quick, and I mean quick you might be able to pick up the Myths and Magic Glimmer Paper Pack that is currently on the clearance rack for $10.40 (was $26). I grabbed myself two of these, so I don’t have the issue again but also stocked up on some other glimmer paper to replenish my stash.
I am still using Beauty Abounds bundle, for someone is who is not a fan of butterflies this is a bundle that I am struggling to put down. I have done so many projects with this and still not sick of it. I think this set will be a keeper, even when it retires.
The colours used here at Merry Merlot, Shaded Spruce and Black as the bases, then they all have a layer of the Grey Granite Cardstock and then finished off with a layer of the Whisper White. I stamped using the “splotch” stamp in the Beauty Abounds set in the Grey Granite all over the background of one card and then the other I stamped using the large bubble stamp. The layer of the butterflies are cut out from the base layer and then the second butterfly dies are used in the glimmer paper packs. You need to ensure that you have used the adhesive sheets on the layer of cardstock or glimmer paper prior to running it through the bigshot machine. Then once these are die cut use your die brush to push out all the pieces. This tool is really nifty and saves a lot of time on intricate dies as the majority of the small pieces are pushed out very easily. Then I separated the butterflies with scissors and placed them on the cardstock. I punched out the sentiment which was also stamped in Grey Granite from scrap and the starburst punch was used to layer this on to and this was cut from the layer in the cardstock.
