Back to Basics
Once you have been crafting for some time it is often hard to go back to basics but Stampin’ Up! have been promoting cards of all levels Beginner, Casual and Avid crafters and I thought that I would try my hand at demonstrating this on some cards. I personally really struggle with #simplestamping and always want to add more embellishments or ribbon so this was certainly a challenge. I was watching a video from Dena Rekow who is a demonstrator in the US and she said she usually starts with the avid crafter card and works backwards so I kind of did that and it did help.
These are my three cards and I have used the Very Versallies set for the majority of this with some elements from the Floral Essence stamp set and some dies called Flourish.
Simple Stamping – Back to Basics
This card is #simplestamping as it is ink, stamps and cardstock, albeit it a few layers of cardstock.
This card is a bit stepped up and has only added the use of a couple of punches, a bit of ribbon and one tiny embellishment to get this added effect, so still no need for a die cutting machine.
Here is a close up of the detail on this card.
This one is really stepped up. When I showed my husband his first comment was “there is a lot going on here” but I was going for that. I believe I am an avid crafter, but I think I feel more comfortable in the casual crafter card space. This is because I have limited time to craft as I work full time and am a mother to a four-year-old. Time is precious and when I get time to craft I want a quick effective card.
A close up of some of the detail and these dies are from the Flourish set in the catalogue. Can you see in the background that I embossed the layer of Sahara Sand, after stamping on it, with the Subtle embossing folder?
I love this flower and again it is from the Flourish set in the catalogue. I inked around the edges of the flowers and the layers of cardstock to give it more dimension and give it more of that vintage feel.
Hope you enjoyed the cards as much as I enjoyed making it and it inspires you to get creative with this set or another set you may own that is similar.
I would really appreciate it if you left a comment below and would love to hear which of the three cards is your favourite.
