As soon as I saw the Woven Heirlooms in the catalogue I knew I wanted to do a class with this set and the August Card Class was the perfect opportunity. I am usually not into vintage style cards because in a lot of cases they have torn edges and I struggle with that, I need clean-cut lines. This Woven Heirlooms Suite is vintage but to me is very sophisticated and elegant.
In saying that once I actually got this suite in my hot little hands I actually had a creative block and could not come up with anything. I sat on it for two days and thought I need to do something otherwise my class with come and go with no projects created. As I am sure all of us have done in the past I turned to the catalogue for inspiration and for some of these cards I actually CASEd the catalogue. This certainly helped and once I got a few cards under my belt the rest just came to me.
The thing that I love about this suite is that it co-ordinates with the 2019 – 2021 in colours and those lovely sequins. I loved them so much somehow I ordered them twice, so now I have thousands of those sequins.
The frame from this card is cut from the layer of the previous card.
This has the purple posy base which I feel tones down the DSP. I did try this with the Terracotta Tile but it blended too much. I also used the Scallop Tag Topper and Triple Banner Punch to create the fun tag this sits on.
This ribbon is awesome. It has a little thread that holds the tassels together and looks great, but if you unpick it then the tassels can be loose which gives it such a cool effect.
I love this pretty peacock colour, it goes so well with the Sahara sand. I used the Well Said Dies for the Happy Birthday and a Gold Faceted Gem for the centre of the flower.
I thought we would do one card for the August Card Class that was a bit over the top and for the avid crafter. Can you see the pearlized doilies that I have coloured (on the matt side) with crumb cake Stampin’ Blend? I then added some Wink of Stella over this to give it some more shine.

The flowers and flourishes are from the Flourish dies in the catalogue and have been cut with the Sahara Sand and Vellum.
